Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer Annotator with a strong background in production-grade backend systems and code review.
- In this role, you will evaluate, annotate, and improve AI-generated backend code to support the development of advanced coding models.
- You will work closely with machine learning engineers, data scientists, and product teams to ensure high-quality technical datasets that reflect real-world backend engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and annotate AI-generated backend code across languages such as Python, Java, C#, Go, or Node.js.
- Assess the correctness, scalability, maintainability, and performance of backend implementations.
- Identify logical flaws, inefficient database queries, architectural weaknesses, and security vulnerabilities.
- Provide detailed technical explanations to justify evaluation decisions.
- Develop and refine annotation rubrics aligned with backend engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with ML and product teams to translate backend requirements into structured evaluation frameworks.
- Contribute to quality assurance processes to ensure annotation consistency and technical depth.
- Build lightweight scripts or test cases to validate backend outputs when necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional backend engineering experience.
- Proven experience building and maintaining production-level APIs and database-driven systems.
- Strong understanding of RESTful architecture, authentication/authorisation mechanisms, and backend security standards (e.g., OWASP).
- Experience conducting structured code reviews in collaborative environments.
- Strong grasp of database design, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical reasoning clearly and concisely
