Job Overview

The technician is responsible for performing technical tasks like installing, maintaining, and repairing water systems, including pipes, pumps, and meters. A candidate with skills and technical knowledge of equipment like solarised power systems, generators and pumps within our Operational Focus Areas. This position requires that the person resides in North Rift, Kenya, where the office is located. It also involves frequent traveling to remote locations within Kenya or surrounding countries.

Job Description

Reporting to the Construction Manager with guidance from the Technical Critical Resource Manager.

Essential criteria & qualifications:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili is required.
  • Diploma/Higher Diploma in engineering (Civil, Environmental, electrical, chemical or Electro-mechanical Engineering). A bachelors degree will be an added advantage.
  • Experience of at least 3 years in specialised field (preferably related to solarised water systems)
  • Technical skills (such as plumbing, welding, electrical and building and construction)
  • Driver’s license required [at least Class B], with the ability to drive manual transmission vehicles
  • Familiar with using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and drafting programs (AutoCAD/PowerCADD, SolidWorks/ProE).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including cross-cultural communication and the ability to clearly articulate ideas and feedback in a constructive way.
