Job Summary
- We are offering four internship positions within the Analytical Department for Graduate Level Students and recent Graduates in Sub Sahara Africa.
- This internship provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in drug development using statistical and machine learning methods.
- Interns will work closely with Senior Level Quantitative Scientists to apply or develop advanced modeling methods, including:
- Machine Learning (eg Deep Learning)
- Survival Analysis
- Causal Inference
- Bayesian Statistics
- Disease Progression Modeling
- Pharmacokinetics/ Pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) Modeling.
- Interns will also participate in seminars and knowledge sharing sessions and have opportunities to present their project outcomes to stakeholders and quantitative scientists at Novartis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the application/development of quantitative methods for drug development.
- Collaborate with quantitative scientists on real world pharmaceutical data.
- Conduct research using statistical programming tools such as SA or R.
- Attend workshops and internal seminars on drug development processes.
- Present findings to Novartis analytical teams and key stakeholders.
Requirements
- Enrolled in or recently graduated (within 18 months) from an M.Sc, Ph.D, or exceptional senior undergraduate program in Biostatistics, Statistics, Pharmacometrics, Engineering or related discipline.
- 0-1 year experience
- Strong programming skills in SAS or R.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Motivated and eager to gain exposure to pharmaceutical analytic.
