Job Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Billing Clerk to support our hospital’s financial operations by accurately processing patient bills, managing insurance claims, and maintaining clear financial records. This role plays a vital part in ensuring timely reimbursement, supporting patient care through efficient billing processes, and contributing to the smooth coordination between our finance, medical, and administrative teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process patient bills and insurance claims
- Verify insurance coverage and pre-authorizations prior to billing
- Submit claims to insurance companies, government programs or other third-party payers
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and work with insurance companies for resolution
- Respond to billing inquiries from patients, insurance companies, and internal departments
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records
- Work with collections when accounts are past due
- Assist in reconciling billing discrepancies and resolving billing errors
- Maintain confidentiality of patient financial and medical information
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma in health records or equivalent related studies
- 1-2 years of billing or accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
