Job overview
- We are seeking to hire a qualified and experienced Data Center First Line Support Engineer.
- The ideal candidate will monitor data center operations, provide first-level technical support and ensure smooth functioning of critical IT infrastructure.
- The Data Center First Line Support Engineer will monitor data center systems, respond to alerts and incidents, and ensure uninterrupted operation of infrastructure and services in line with defined procedures.
Responsibilities
- Monitor data center operations, servers, network devices and environmental control systems.
- Perform routine checks to ensure availability, performance and security of data center infrastructure.
- Respond to alerts and incidents, escalate technical issues to second and third-level support teams when necessary.
- Provide hands-on support for hardware components including cabling, patching, installations and replacements.
- Track incidents and service requests using an IT service management platform.
- Maintain accurate records of data center activities, maintenance logs and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with operational procedures, safety standards and data center best practices.
- Assist in the coordination of vendor visits and maintenance activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in data center operations or IT infrastructure support.
- Strong understanding of server hardware, storage systems, networking and power management.
- Experience with monitoring tools and ticketing systems such as Jira, Zendesk or ServiceNow.
- Basic knowledge of networking (LAN, WAN, routing, switching), virtualization or cloud environments.
- Ability to work on shifts including nights, weekends or public holidays as required.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond swiftly to operations issues.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
