Job overview
- We are looking for an experienced Transport Controller who will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the efficient movement of goods, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective deliveries. Working across the warehousing and transport business units, and in close collaboration with internal departments.
Responsibilities
- Plan and optimize primary and secondary distribution routes and truck loading slots
- Monitor and track shipments using Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
- Liaise with transport service providers, internal departments, and customers
- Analyse and improve Retail On-Time-In-Full (OTIF) KPI performance
- Investigate and resolve delays, damages, pallet discrepancies (CHEP/GLS)
- Verify transporter invoices, rates, POs, PODs and prepare payment bundles
- Support implementation of TMS and KENAI systems
- Oversee on-site truck marshalling and loading priority
- Enforce health & safety compliance standards
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Transport Management, or Supply Chain OR Matric with at least 4 years’ relevant experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and Microsoft 365
- Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with transportation software and KPI analysis
- Shift work will be required for this position
