The Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) is a State Corporation established under the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Act, No. 28 of 2013 under the Ministry of Education. The core mandate of the Agency is to develop and manage the National Innovation System. The Agency is therefore responsible for co-ordination, promotion and regulation of the National Innovation System.
Working with partners, KeNIA strengthens interrelationships between actors in order to promote innovation and enterprise development out of research and ideas.
Job Description
- Implementing policies, frameworks, strategies and plans on partnership and resource mobilization;
- Reviewing proposals for resource mobilization;
- Facilitating negotiations, development and review of institutional agreements in accordance with the Agency policies;
- Ensuring maintenance of comprehensive database of partners, agreements, MoUs for funding in the Agency;
- Maintaining local, regional and global strategic alliances and institutional linkages;
- Liaising with other internal departments to align partnerships with the mandate of the Agency;
- Identifying potential sources of funding from development partners, government, corporate, non-governmental organizations, foundations, and trusts.
- Participating in mobilization of resources from the government, private sector, development partners and other sources;
- Identifying strategic projects/programs to development partners funding programs;
- Guiding and ensuring adherence to terms and conditions set in partnership agreements;
- Reporting on disbursement and absorption/utilization of partner funds; and
Generating of requisite reports.
Person Specification
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:
- Served for a cumulative period of nine (9) years’ work experience three (3) of which should have been in the grade of Senior Partnership and Resource Mobilization Officer or in a comparable position the public or private sector;
- Bachelors degree in any of the following field: Finance, Economics, International Development Studies, Business Administration, Business management, International Relations management, Marketing, Communication or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
- Membership to a professional body and in good standing where applicable;
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) week from a recognized institution;
- Fulfill the requirements of Chapter (6) of the Constitution.
- Membership to a relevant professional body in good standing where applicable;
- Certified qualification in relevant field from a recognized Institution where applicable; and
- Proficiency in Computer applications.
